High Energy Colliders as Black Hole Factories: The End of Short Distance Physics
نویسندگان
چکیده
If the fundamental Planck scale is of order a TeV, as the case in some extradimensions scenarios, future hadron colliders such as the Large Hadron Collider will be black hole factories. The non-perturbative process of black hole formation and decay by Hawking evaporation gives rise to spectacular events with up to many dozens of relatively hard jets and leptons, with a characteristic ratio of hadronic to leptonic activity of roughly 5:1. The total transverse energy of such events is typically a sizeable fraction of the beam energy. Perturbative hard scattering processes at energies well above the Planck scale are cloaked behind a horizon, thus limiting the ability to probe short distances. The high energy black hole cross section grows with energy at a rate determined by the dimensionality and geometry of the extra dimensions. This dependence therefore probes distances larger than the Planck scale.

Black holes at future colliders and beyond
One of the most dramatic consequences of low-scale (∼ 1 TeV) quantum gravity in models with large or warped extra dimension(s) is copious production of mini black holes at future colliders and in ultra-high-energy cosmic ray collisions. Hawking radiation of these black holes is expected to be constrained mainly to our three-dimensional world and results in rich phenomenology. In this topical re...
متن کاملThe phase transition of corrected black hole with f(R) gravity
In this letter, we consider static black hole in f(R) gravity. We take advantage from corrected entropy and temperature and investigate such black hole. Finally, we study the $ P - V $ critically and phase transition of corrected black hole with respect to entropy and temperature. Here also, we obtain the heat capacity for the static black hole in $ f(R) $ gravity. This calculation help us...

One of the most dramatic consequences of low-scale (∼ 1 TeV) quantum gravity would be copious production of mini black holes at future accelerators and in ultra-high-energy cosmic ray interactions. Hawking radiation of these black holes is constrained mainly to our (3+1)-dimensional world and results in their rapid evaporation. We review selected topics in the mini-black-hole phenomenology, suc...
متن کاملTuning of fuzzy logic controller using an improved black hole algorithm for maximizing power capture of ocean wave energy converters
Seas and oceans are the most important sources of renewable energy in the world. The main purpose of this paper is to use an appropriate control strategy to improve the performance of point absorbers. In this scheme, considering the high uncertainty in the parameters of the power take-off system in different atmospheric conditions, a new improved black hole algorithm is introduced to tune fuzzy...
متن کاملExotic Leptons and Black Holes at Future Colliders
The Standard Model of particle physics has been remarkably successful in describing present experimental results. However, it is assumed to be only a low-energy effective theory which will break down at higher energy scales, theoretically motivated to be around 1 TeV. There are a variety of proposed models of new physics beyond the Standard Model, most notably supersymmetric and extra dimension...
